About Army Hospital (R&R)

Army Hospital (Research & Referral) is the premier tertiary care hospital of the Indian Armed Forces, established in 1970 to provide comprehensive medical care to armed forces personnel, their families, and veterans. Located in Delhi Cantonment, the hospital has evolved into a center of medical excellence, combining clinical care with advanced research and education.

Spread over 130 acres, the hospital complex houses state-of-the-art medical facilities, research laboratories, and training institutions. As a referral center for the entire armed forces medical services, we handle complex medical cases from across the country, providing specialized care in various medical and surgical disciplines.

Army Hospital (R&R) serves as a major research hub for military medicine, conducting cutting-edge research in trauma care, tropical diseases, high-altitude medicine, and rehabilitation sciences. Our research initiatives bridge the gap between laboratory discoveries and clinical applications.

Our trauma research unit focuses on improving outcomes for combat injuries through studies in hemorrhage control, damage control surgery, and battlefield trauma management. Recent research includes development of advanced hemostatic agents and telemedicine applications for forward areas.

Ongoing clinical trials involve novel resuscitation strategies and prosthetic technologies for amputee soldiers. The unit collaborates with Defense Research Development Organization (DRDO) and international military medical research centers.

Specialized research on physiological adaptations and pathological conditions at high altitudes, focusing on prevention and treatment of acute mountain sickness, high-altitude pulmonary edema, and cold injuries prevalent among troops deployed in mountainous regions.

Research on vector-borne diseases, parasitic infections, and emerging tropical diseases affecting military personnel in different operational environments. Focus areas include drug-resistant malaria, dengue management protocols, and rapid diagnostic techniques for field use.
